Mostar, a beautiful city in Bosnia and Hrzegovina!!

If you are coming to Brela, Mostar is one of the destinations nearby we can do as a excursion.

Just 120 km from Abuela´s Beach House, yesterday we went with our guests Daniela and Dirk to take a look to this famous city full off history and war signs.

As we get to the city the first we could saw  was the mosques situated all over around. As they have Muslims and Catholics living together peaceful in the same city. Here you will found a lot of mosques but if you  want to see it inside you have to pay entrance. At 12 p.m and 5 p.m you will also listen to calls from the mosques.

Another beauty about this city is that you can follow the River Neretva all by the city and you will get to the most famous Brigde, The “Stari Most” like they call, or Old Bridge. Its an amazing surrounding with a lot of history. The Bridge was destroyed in the 90´s war, and it was rebuilt in 2004. Passing through the bridge you will find a Museum of the Bridge that told us about the history of the damage and reconstruction. The entrance costs 3 euros and it is really interesting for those who are curious about history and culture war. Or in our case Dirk was very concern about the reconstruction part, nothing more obvious to expect from an engineer!! haha 🙂

All the way to get to the Stari Most and passing through it you are going to see the Turkish market, where you are going to find all decorations handmade, clothes, bijoux, gifts etc. We are really impressed with the Turkish influence in this zone and the good prices of the things. Daniela bought me one beautiful pashmina!!!! Thanks Dani!!! 😉

I can not forget to mention that you have also to try the famous Cevapcici with kaymak sauce and the local beer Sarajevsko!!
